Sometimes it might be a romantic relationship, or this time around as a sibling or best friend. As this life is a temporary experience, so too are your relationships. Hence, those living a long-term love with a childhood sweetheart similarly enjoy a temporary relationship as humans during this lifetime. Recognising this truth has the potential to set you free. You will cling less to a notion of forever form and can focus on love lived right now.
In a world where our lives are temporary, our children and pets age, and other factors like careers, geographical locations change, choose to be consciously present. Irrespective of any control you try to assert, change is inevitable. Hence, every factor in life is mutable and therefore, temporary. However, when you live in the now, you will no longer feel that life is passing you by; that your child is growing up too quickly, or the exciting falling in love period is disappearing. The fullness of presence replaces a perceived sense of loss. In fact, when you are completely present to love energy, you realise it is eternal. There is something about this understanding that opens the heart and calms the body and mind.
One challenge for many is to be in love with another/others and be. This means being present to the moments. It is easy to play re-runs of the joy you recently experienced or to fantasise about the next date or time together. When doing either, you are in the past or anticipate future as directed by the egoic mind. However, when you choose to be in your now, every moment you exist in is blessed. Are you able to feel the loving swirly energy AND be present to whatever is occurring? No need to disconnect from love, ever.
Similarly, the egoic mind can play tricks on you when falling in love. It might inform you that this new exciting other is the source of love in your life. Suddenly, needy little hands extend from the front of the chest desperately wanting to own, grasp, grip or hold on to this person that you may project as being the fountain of nectarous amour. A consequent belief emerges instructing therefore, this relationship form must last forever. Allow me to remind you of a magnificent truth:
Sweet one, YOU are the source of love. Place your hand on your heart and feel into the love that you are always. For if you lose sight of this, you are more likely to seek love outside of yourself.
Consequently, you may find yourself feeling needy. Usually this is accompanied by insecurity within your romantic connection. Alternatively, you can notice what your egoic mind is telling you. Be the witness.
What if you were to recall that every one of us is love? There is no lack.
What if you were to recall that we are all one? There is no disconnect.
What if you were to recall that love energy is eternal? There can be no loss.
Sometimes, I fear I may sound like a fanatical love evangelist. My only wish is to speak to the experience of love I am living. For every single time I fall in love, and let it be what it is, stay present and let go of egoic attempts to control this love, I am completely at peace. I enjoy the moments so much more. For I can focus on the love exchanged and swirling in the moment. In the past, I used to be worried about it changing, lessening or ending. Sadly, this would detract from being present to the love I was living in the moment. In more recent years, being conscious has resulted in a profoundly rich life experience. I am love. Others feel this, not just me. Anytime that I connect lovingly in romantic or other ways, love energy multiplies further.
I remind myself that everything in my life is temporary, unlike love the energy. Not because I am a negative person, quite the opposite; I am an eternal optimist. I choose to exist in the truth of an ever-changing world. This allows me to trust in whatever shifts over time. Mostly, it calls me into the present. For I understand that any exchange I have with a lover, friend, relative etc. is precious. It is here and now. You could say I milk it for all it contains. Thus, I walk the planet with an open heart feeling big love and overflowing it.
Similarly, you can come into awareness of your exchanges with others. Instead of fearing a scary future as predicted by your egoic mind, truly appreciate the subtle nuances of other people you are in connection with. The moments of your day are more beautiful because you notice them. And it is contagious.
If you are falling in love again, may you enjoy every delightful unfolding moment due to your presence. When living a deepening love over decades, may you be present and revel in this too. It can be easy to take each other for granted over time. Take a moment to be aware once more; really look into the other’s eyes, hear the shifts of timbre in their voice when they talk, feel their loving kindness. Notice those endearing qualities that had you falling for them in the first place. It is the attentive moments that birth deep appreciation of your connections. Your heart cup fills.
Presence is what fuels enchanting love. Whilst sometimes we do this more in the earlier days, may you be present to long standing loves, and every one in your life or crossing your path. Remember, the richness of a million moments is stored in your cells, heart and memory banks. Most importantly, you exist in this very moment and its exquisitely rich entirety. May you breathe love in the moments.
